Monkey is swimming like a pro!!!  We were on vacation in Ft. Myers and it just clicked!!  She jumps in, swims, rolls over for a breath, swims some more, and finds the wall/stairs!!  I am SO proud of her, and I just had to share it!!!  Thanks Ms. Ginny!!
The down side to this:  she LOVES the water so every opportunity she gets, she is in the water even I am NOT looking!  I have to watch her super close!  No amount of swimming lessons will be a substitution for supervision, but I am a little more confident that her skill will buy me a little time if an emergency happens!  Face it... it is hard to keep two eyes on all of your kids at one time.  We are human, but we can prepare ourselves and our children for any situation that may arise!
Drowning is the number one killer of kids in Florida.
Enjoy my little mermaid!!!!

She is more than I could have hoped for ... more than I had dreamed! Our journey is one I won't forget or stop praising God for! Each year I look back at her, my miracle... and thank him for another amazing year HE has given us!!! 24 July, 2009

A friend of mine showed me this awesome wedding video of the bridal party entering the ceremony! OMGosh... it so cool! So much fun! I would totally do this IF I could get everyone on board! That had to be a major feat to get everyone on board with it and to choreograph it all! Oh, to be at that reception!!! Enjoy!! (turn off the music player first-- bottom left side bar!)

I trust everyone had a great Father's day!

We had a very laid back one here! Nothing super special, but it made him happy and that is all that matters! We started off the day with him blowing up Monkey's new swimming pool we bought her for the back yard to beat the summer heat! (10am and it was already 90 degrees! wheew!) Hey what else would he do on Father's day than "father" things! The smile on her face always makes it all worth it! After we ran a few errands, we had dinner at Texas Roadhouse... yeehaw!! Hubby really wanted a steak so ,voila!!

We got him a backyard golf net so he can practice his swing! He will be a pro in no time! (hopefully he won't ask me to go to any more golf tournaments with him! :o)

Monkey waiting for daddy to finish blowing up her pool!

It is really kinda cute... the giraffe sprays water out of his mouth!

This is when Monkey first got in !! She loves it! She cried when she realized what daddy was doing when he let the water out!

Even the dog got in on the action.... she was so hot!

Don't you spray me mister!!

See Daddy did get to sit around, put his feet up, and read the paper!!

As I told you before... my girlfriend scored a condo on the beach and invited us out last minute to soak up some sun and ride the waves!! It was also her daughter's b-day so we celebrated while we were there. We arrived early and stayed late! This was monkey's first actual trip to the beach to play and experience! (last time we were there, it was SUPER cold and the kids were bundled from head to toe!) We really need to do the beach more often and take advantage of the free entertainment living so close. Yes, it is a pain to pack the car for the day, get sand in every crack and crevasse, get sand all over the car, and live with the dry chaffed feeling that salt water gives you-- but one of God's best creations is free and fun!!
Our crew in the water!

Monkey with my girlfriend jumping the waves!
I realize this post is getting long, but I couldn't help including this sweet video of her first time in the water!! (turn off music player before playing video)

Monkey just dove right into the sand. She loved it! She loved the water more. Every time I would turn around, oh... there she goes back to the water!! One awesome thing that happened was there was a school of fish right beside us that were jumping like crazy out of the water. Where there is fish, there are pelicans! They were dive bombing the fish right around us. We decided to back it up to the shore till they went away! (dive bombing pelicans can also be a tell tale sign that underwater preditors could be lurking around the fish schools. shhh... sharks!) It was so awesome.... they dove in unison!
After we all got "extra crispy" and worn out, we went out for dinner at a cute little waterfront place to celebrate a special birthday!!

Thanks guys for inviting us!! Happy birthday girlie!!
Don't worry , BEACH, we will be back!!

This girl just cracked me up! Nannie called on the phone to talk to her sister /brother. Well, that was not going over very well, so she got her turn! She babbled on and on. You can actually hear Nannie on the other end of the phone because we have it on speaker phone so we can hear Nannie and rescue her if need be! When nannie says,"bye" , she waves and then pretends to hang it up and put it down! What a tune!!! You can definately tell she is one of ours.... she walks around the whole house talking on the phone.... I need to put a GPS on it when the other two kids have the phone so I can find them!!

I promise and I deliver!!
Here are a couple videos of Monkey's swim lessons!! She is on day 8 of 10! She has made a dramatic turn around. She walks into the pool area, smiles, waves "hi" to Ms. Ginny, walks over and away she goes!! NO crying-- she does her thing and then talks to birds, to Ms. Ginny, to me, to Mr. Harrison! What a HAM!! She is doing really well with her rolling over, but still needs to work on floating! She doesn't want to get that head up, therefor she sinks!

17 April, 2009

Monkey came into my room carrying a chair from her doll house! I about lost it when I saw what she was trying to do with it!! (Sorry about it being dark... it was very stormy... hence the tornado coverage on the TV you hear in the back ground.)

Monkey has learned her next sign!! (You can catch up with our sign language journey here!)
She now does "please"! Sometimes she gets a bit carried away and REALLY wants something, so she will do "please" over and over until we give it to her!

I think secretly she wants to be a singer too! This one is for you Miss Jaime!

(sorry about the messy floors, but I am terribly unmotivated today!)

WHOO HOO!!

We are so proud of you sweetheart!

(Lord, help me!)

01 February, 2009

(make sure you turn off the music in the left side bar before viewing!)

She has learned her newest sign! You can see our progress from the beginning here!

This is her signing that she is "all done"! Now as a disclaimer... this is HER version of "all done"! When she really gets excited about being "all done" it looks like she may take flight, but alas... she is "all done"!!

I have loved teaching her these signs! She now does "eat", "more", "bye" and "all done"! It has been a great help in our communication!

For some reason every time I see it, I just bust up!! I guess because I am one of the sale seeking addicts!! Anyway, I know you have seen it and have been cracking up too-- admit it!! :o)

She had fun though and sure was cute doing it!! (turn off the music in the left side bar first!)

09 January, 2009

This past June, we had "monkey" dedicated to the Lord. In our faith, we don't baptize our infants. That is a command given by the Lord to the believer to follow the Lord in baptism. Since an infant can not make a public profession of faith and her desire to follow the Lord all the days of her life, we don't baptize them at infancy. We dedicate our infants to signify that we offer back our child to the Lord, thank him for our gift, and vow to raise our children in a Godly home with the hopes that someday they will make a decision to accept Christ as their Lord and Savior! That is my daily prayer and my heart's desire-- that my child grow in Christ and accept him personally. I pray they have a personal relationship with him. I pray that one day we will meet in heaven for eternity!

We did a great slide show put to music to honor "monkey" that they showed at the dedication. We had our dear friend, Jaime sing "In my daughter's eyes" by Martina McBride! I don't think there was a dry eye. Here is the slide show. It is to Martina's version. (don't forget to turn off the music in the left sidebar before viewing the video!)

All our family and friends attended! The church service was followed by a lunch at our home. What a great day!! "Monkey" was a gift from God! We give her back to him today! She is your child, Lord. Help us to raise her the best we can!

We were given a certificate and a book- "praying the scriptures for your children."

Praying over her!

I think that brings us up to date! I started the blog right after her dedication! Thanks for joining me on this jog down memory lane!!
