image by : reallynatural.comThe other issue I had was that I didn't know whether to give her the Tylenol (with all this garbage going on about it) or give her Motrin-- something that wouldn't elevate her heart rate more. I figured the fever was what was elevating it. So against my hubby's judgement, I called the doctor. ( Okay, ladies... are all men like this? I was really getting frustrated thinking he was more worried about the $$ it was going to cost WHEN they told us to go to the ER, which they more than likely will since they are "money makers" according to him! I was purely worried about my girl and wanted to know how to help her if she needed it. I like to err on the side of caution and would like to have piece of mind. Also I had another sick baby at home that if I could gain some insight, maybe I could cut her illness in half.)
Anyway, I called them... to ask them my Tylenol question. They weren't at all worried about the heart rate. That is normal with a fever. Okay... I can live with that. They then decided that they were worried about the headache, fever, and dizziness. They wanted to have her checked out at the ER to rule out any neuro issues or meningitis. So , now I am a little worried. I trust my Doctor. I have been going to her for 11 years. She knows my kids... I know my kids. I have called before and they have said... just watch her and bring her in the morning. My Doctor is VERY cautious. That is really why I like her. I hear her concerns, but then it does become my discretion whether to validate them or dismiss them based on my gutt and how well I know my kids' bodies! Sometimes it gets really old, but that one time it stops something serious in its tracks, I will be grateful.
Off we go to the ER. I am second guessing myself the whole way. I allowed myself to think that they better find something to justify this trip or Hubby is really going to be mad.... then I had to smack myself around a bit. Hey, at least when I get home, my girl and I both can sleep well knowing IF anything is going on. I am a mom, hear my roar... baby is sick. Sure it could probably wait, but they don't want anything to get out of control during the night. We got the the ER. It must have been a slow night, because we got right in. (in and out in 1 1/2 hrs.) The staff was great, the doctors were great! Princess watched Hannah Montanna ... who would have thought Disney channel runs those shows at midnight.... huh! They tested for strep, swine flu, and tested her urine for infection. Everything was clean. That means VIRAL. Nothing to do , but rest and eat! GREAT!
Now to go home and tell hubby... this ought to be good! I thought on the way home. Yes, I have piece of mind and now I have some insight on what is going on in our house. Yes, it could have been waited out, but what if it had been meningitis? I have to stop second guessing myself. My question still lingers.... are they cautious doctors or are they just trying to make money? I like to think mine is a cautious doctor. Now, there have been times where she wanted some extra tests done or us to go see a specialist "just to be safe". My gutt told me NO, and we didn't . That becomes our responsibility as parents to know what is best for our kids and take what the doctors suggests and decide what to do with it. This is also the same doctor who sent us to the ER about a couple years ago for suspected appendicitis. I thought she was crazy, but when we got there, it was the start of pneumonia. We caught it early because she was cautious. . In the age of preventivie medicine, we have to have that mindset to be cautious, have things checked out, be grateful for negative results, and rejoice when we catch it early enough to be treated!
I will continue to trust my doctor to be cautious. I will NOT second guess myself and how I chose to help my child. They could very well be money makers... (we will see when the bill comes :o) but those money makers just might save my child's life one day because they were cautious. Princess is doing fine. She still has the fever and headache, but we KNOW it is nothing but viral and will go from here!

To end our spring break, the kids wanted to go and see a movie! So it was between Monsters vs. Aliens-- a dreamworks production-- and Race to Witch Mountain-- a Disney production!! Of course my kids picked the competition!! :o) So off we went to see Monsters vs. Aliens! I haven't been a fan of dreamworks' animation in the past. I again was NOT impressed! The only one I have really liked was Madagascar! The kids did enjoy the movie from and entertainment stand point. There was action, some good kid humor, and some good lessons!! It was your classic "good over evil" movie! However, this is one we won't be purchasing for our future viewing pleasure!! You can make your own assessment by going to kids in mind and checking out their run down of the movie!

My uncle is taking part in this year's Bike for MS! This is expecially important and personal for our family because his son, my cousin, has been diagnosed with MS. He will be 30 this year and has an amazing wife and sweet daughter!!
Having multiple sclerosis means that you may suddenly have blurry vision. Or that your memory will fail you for no apparent reason. Or that you may not always be able to walk, let alone ride a bike. The symptoms of MS are different, and devastating, for everyone - the only certainty is that it will affect yet another person every hour of every day.If you are interested in being apart of this great opportunity to help change lives for today and the future , you can visit his homepage where you can sponsor him on his ride in June!

I am sure a lot if not all of you have been impacted in some way by this economy! You may have lost a job, been in danger of losing a job, had to cut out some things from your life, made sacrifices or even had some bills go unpaid! This is brutal. I see it all around me and it is really very depressing. I watch stories on shows like Oprah that showcased some families that REALLY have it bad! I don't want to belittle their circumstances by whining about mine. I watch my family and friends lose jobs, lose cars, lose their hope! I also watch these big money hungry insurance companies and corporations go after the very people who keep them in business for money. No consideration for their consumers after more often than not, they are the ones that put the consumers into all this trouble in the first place. We are doing okay! Sure -we are making some cuts, sacrificing, making changes in spending habits, and praying daily that my hubby still has a job to go to. We do live in a universe of the unknown.
--It is unknown if our schools will lose enough funding to need to shut down. Where would the kids go? Will I have to consider homeschooling? Will we have to move to another district?

She has some thought about this economy!
( Sorry it is so dark! The economy is a "dark" subject! ) (don't forget to turn off the music player to the left to hear the audio!)
First she thinks it is a big joke. She then tells someone else about it! (I think she is talking to God! At least I hope so... we need all the help we can get!)
Then so intense... she falls over.
Then she has a plan on how to fix it!! :o) Enjoy!
Next, thoughts on the presidential race! She is trying her hardest to get up and go vote, however she forgets all about it when she gets distracted!!
Now she would like to see what it would be like to join the armed forces and crawl like the military!!! She decides , nah... not for her!! (or mom)

So my poor parents have lived for 11 days without their A/C! In Florida that is just unacceptable and unbearable. They were going to have it fixed the next day, however, we had an idea that it might be the compressor and that is REALLY expensive. So, me in a brilliant moment (which I don't have very often) suggested that they use their home warranty that they got when they purchased their house.
Sweet, a $55 service call and that should be the only expense. We were thinking "cool"-- well, not really in their house yet-- it was going to cost them upwards of $1000.00 to get it fixed. Well, days went by... still no air. They got several different stories about how the part had to be ordered and was on its way. What a crock. This is FL . people!! Finally, after calling my dad's normal A/C guy, they came up with the idea to ask the Home Warranty co. for a "buy out". (give my dad cash for the repair) They did. Not the full amount, but at this point it is worth it just getting out from under the Home warranty people!! He called his A/C guy back and he was there the next day and repaired it. 11 days later, they finally had air. The air got fixed this past Friday.
The irony... I woke up this morning and MY air is out!!!!!!!!!! AAAAHHHH!!!! Guess , I will be calling my dad's awesome A/C guy!

I have just come from an incredibly frustrating trip to Target! Apparently, they are no longer accepting web coupons printed from your computer! I even tried to use my coupons that I printed with the Target logo on the bottom. They have stopped accepting them due to "fradulent coupon activity". I am so MAD! I got up to the register with all my stuff and coupons only to be told of their new policy. I then told them they were going to lose a lot of business because other's will accept their target coupons as competitors! Poor gal at the register looked in disbelief as I then told her I didn't want this or this or this and asked her to put them back! I can use my coupons and get them cheaper elsewhere!!
Is this the case at your Target too? Let me know and I will drive to yours if they are still accepting them there!!
