1. Our work on the house has begun! We are looking to put it on the market after Christmas! Family room painted... check.... kitchen painted.... check!!

2. Well, our worship pastor from church went and auditioned with his band to play at Night of Joy! He made it!! Woo hoo!! What a great opportunity for him to change more lives!

3. Sunday was our first "Shepherding a child's heart" life group meeting! We had about half of the people that signed up come. Not a bad start! We have a great group of ppl with ages ranging from 1week olds to 18 year olds! The first thing we learned in the introduction was that kids need to know the "WHY" and not just "WHAT" they are doing wrong! WOW , it is going to be a great 14 weeks!

4. Monkey has found a new obsession. BLUE'S CLUES!! I happened to have saved all the old VHS tapes of the episode I had when my other two were obsessed. I can't seem to find any new episodes w/ Joe. Steve is better anyway! She gets super excited and jumps around. She loves to do "head ,, shoulder, knees and toes w/ Steve!!

Week 2 of school coming up!! :o)

I CAN'T believe it is already time for a new school year! My boy is in 5th and princess is in 3rd! This is the first year for FCAT for princess! I don't have any concerns about her! She just goes with the flow! (FYI... they aren't saying the pledge, they are covering their school logos on their shirts for privacy! :o) They both got really good teachers! I think it is going to be a great year!
Monkey had to make sure the back packs were good enough for them to use!

I hope all your sweet ones have a great first week of school!

1. UGH... school starts on Monday! It is bitter sweet! I think the kids are excited! They have great teachers this year as always! This year my boy is a part of the "school patrols" that lets kids in and out of the cars in car line! I think he is excited!!

2. Softball tryouts were Sat. Princess did really well for never playing a day in her life! She needs a little more "umph" in her swing and needs to get a hold of those ground balls! I think she is going to have a blast!~

3. We also had a garage sale on Sat.at my mom's . Once again, we did really well until about noon, then the storms came in. Blah... no more ppl came after that! I sold a couple pieces of furniture, which helped gets things a big more de-cluttered in the house as we prepare to sell in the spring.

4. Next Sunday starts our "small group" at church. Hubby and I are leading/hosting a small group in which we are studying "Shepherding a child's heart" by Tedd Tripp. I did this study before and really loved it, so I am excited to have hubby go through it. I will try and post a little snippet weekly about what we are learning!

5. I am going through a bit of a guilty depression in bloggy land. I have just been slammed with stuff getting ready for school to start, thinking about getting the house ready to sell, etc... I feel I have neglected my bloggy friends! So sorry, all! I do read a bunch when I can, but don't have the time to comment as much as I should or want to. Just know, I am reading and keeping tabs on you!

Have a great week all!!

I can't believe the summer is almost over! Neither can the kids! So for one last BIG thing to help the summer go out with a bang... Daddy played "hooky", and we packed up and went to AQUATICA!
For those of you who aren't local... this is the SeaWorld's water park! The kids had so much fun! They have a water slide that goes through a tank of dolphins! Awesome! The kids play area was SO cool! You could spend hours in just that area a lone. A wave pool with a sandy beach... something for everyone! It is weird walking around a "theme park" in just your bathing suit! Can I just say that men in SPEEDOs should be illegal in family friendly parks. My eyes were burning... I thought it might be from the chlorine, but quickly realized it was those men! The women aren't much better... just about as bad as the beach. If it hangs out -- it should be covered up ladies! Seriously. ... anyway!!

We arrived at the park at 9:00 am (thanks to our friends for hooking us up!!) and finally left at 5:20pm. Whew... we were wiped out! Monkey had a couple of meltdowns due to her missing her nap!
Ugh... it is bittersweet that school is starting next Monday!
Good bye summer, I will miss you so!

Underwater viewing area!
Riding the rapids!

Which way do we go?
I am ready to go home now!

1. I am furious w/ our Home Owners Association. This was the straw that broke the camel's back! We have decided to work on our home and then after Christmas put it on the market! This isn't my first choice, but we have been talking it about it for a while due to needing more space. This just sealed the coffin so to speak for me. That final push down that path of insanity of trying to sell our home. I am so tired of being told what to do , when to do it, and how to do it. This is MY home and MY husband's blood, sweat, tears, and $$ into OUR home! Threatening us w/ legal action because our weeds aren't pulled to their perfection isn't going to cut anymore! Hmmm , wonder why we have so many foreclosures in our neighborhood--- because the HOA is forcing it on the homeowners, not the economy! Okay... off my soapbox now!!

2. Princess went to "check out" softball tryouts at the local girls club. She wants to play, but we are observing today to figure out what she needs to know for tryouts and what to be equipped with! This means she will be giving up gymnastics for a year! She is fine with it. I wish she would stick with it, but I guess she needs to experience it all to see what interests her and what SHE enjoys the most!

3. It is almost Night of Joy time at the Disney Hollywood studios! Hubby is working hard! We just found out that our worship leader from church is planning on auditioning for the "talent spotlight"! I am so excited for him!! I hope he gets in!!

4. We are planning a garage sale for this weekend , but I have been informed that we may get rained out due to a hurricane. They only weekend I pick to have a garage sale? Wonderful! We will see!

5. This is the kids' last week of summer vacation! It is bitter sweet! I love having them home due to me not dealing w/ homework, projects, lunches etc. BUT it is nice to have everyone back on a routine and schedule! We thrive better that way! So here is to a great last week of summer! Horrah!

12 August, 2009

Oh, those silly girls! That is what happens when I find them playing in my closet!
For more WW fun go here or here!!
Have a great rest of the week!

Stop the insanity!! This was taken today at 6:15pm, people! Crazy!

Purex Complete 3-in-1!
I am so happy to have found you my new bff! Who knew a laundry product could make my life easier! It is so simple! Pull a sheet out, plop it in while the water is running, and then add the clothes. No measuring, no spill, no residue left on the washer from the spilled liquid, no powder spilled on the floor! Best of all, I can have my hubby OR kids do the laundry. I KNOW they can't screw it up! Do you know how many times I have forgotten to add softener in the wash and a dryer sheet in the dryer! NO MORE!

After the wash runs (with mountains of foaming bubbles mind you!) you take out the whole load sheet included and throw it in the dryer. No more forgetting and having the clothes come out sticking to each other and making my hair stand on end! The clothes smell so good too!!

Yes, society is getting lazy, but this is one laziness I can afford to be lazy about. Saves time, mess, and $$ because I don't have to run the wash again when I forget to add everything!!

Thanks for coming into my life Purex Complete. I see the start of a beautiful friendship!

The weary travelers have returned! Whew... what a whirlwind!! It was 4 days PACKED with stuff! Chicago is such a great city with tons to do. If you plan it right, you can do FREE things all day!! :o) We had some great experiences, saw some great sites, and took in some history as well. We managed to have some fun in there too! Hubby got his work done and managed to take in a lot of the sites with us! The baby did great! There are a lot of pictures, so I broke them down into sections and put them into slide shows for easier viewing--- and to not make this a longer post than it will already be! So here goes!!!! (it may take some time to load... be patient!)

Day 1:
Arrive Chicago in the morning! We went directly to the Lincoln Park Zoo. FREE all day every day! That was amazing that a big Zoo like Lincoln Park was free for the community. Completely run by sponsors, volunteers, and donations! The kids loved it. I think our favorite was the monkeys!! Wonder why! My boy was dying to see the penguins, but the exhibit was out of order! Bummer, but he moved on!

After the Zoo, we drove to the mall that hubby had to work at for this event. Daddy had a meeting and we ate lunch. After the mall, we went and checked into our hotel! It was very pretty and posh, but not very family friendly. The rooms were like cracker boxes. The pool was beautiful, but really cold. It was definitely for the business traveler who just wanted to use it to do laps! I think we only spent about 20 minutes in the pool!

Day 2:
We woke up with Princess practically pushing us out the door! This was American Girl Place day! After walking down the Magnificent Mile for 6 blocks, we arrived! She was in AWE!! She kept repeating, "I can't believe I am finally here"! "I never thought this day would come!" I didn't expect myself to be so emotional about the whole thing. I was a bit teary eyed watching her emotion! She has waited SO long for this and has earned it with her thumb sucking issues! She is doing so great and really deserved this! This place is crazy! A doll hair salon, a doll hospital, matching outfits for you and your doll, every thing under the sun for your doll, and the American girl cafe that you can have lunch w/ your doll! (too expensive for us and couldn't get a reservation anyway!)

They have a great little section with all the historical dolls in the "museum" for the girls to see their favorite characters that they have been reading about in the books. They are all set up in their historical environments set up to mimic their era! Very cool! While we were there , they were having a little free craft for the girls to make their own bookmarks! My poor boy was pretty much bored out of his mind and really didn't want to be there, but he was a fantastic sport. Good thing he brought his nintendo ds with him. If we didn't ... don't worry ... you can check some out like a library for the boys at the customer service counter!!

After American girl, which she hasn't put down since, we met daddy for dinner! We ate at Portillos!! Very good food!! Chicago has some great dining options! We did Portillos, Billy Goat Tavern, and Gino's East Pizza!! When on vacation, we refuse to eat anywhere we can eat at home! Time to try new and exciting!

After dinner, we were so wiped out ... we went back to the hotel! We were going to go down to the Navy Pier for the fireworks, but amazingly we could see them beautifully from our hotel room shooting off right over the pier !! The fireworks lit up Lake Michigan so great!!

Day 3:
We went to the pool in the morning for a bit and then met daddy for lunch! After lunch, we walked down to Millennium Park! What a great park! They had this crazy art piece their that we called the silver bean! Well, that is what it looked like! The kids had fun looking at themselves in it! The coolest part of the park was the "fountains" ! Well, water wall is more like it! It is a giant wall with water coming down. Inside the wall there is a face on it that "spits" out water periodically! So cool!! There is also an ice skating rink they fill with ice in the winter! Skating in the park... how romantic. In the summer, it is a very nice place to eat!!

After the park, we went and took a water taxi ride to Navy Pier! What a fun place!! Tons to do and see. After catching a couple of shows, we went to the Children's Museum! FREE after 5 pm!! The kids loved all the hands on stuff to do , did I mention it was free?!

Day 4:
Check out day was day 4! This was the only day it rained, so it was a good day to do indoor stuff. Frankly it was such a nice change from our 94 humid weather! Very comfortable! We left the hotel and headed back to the mall that daddy was working at. There we found my boy's heaven!! Legoland Discovery center!!! Most all the exhibits were made out of legos. They had a couple rides, shows, and workshops!! He was loving life!

Soon it was time to head to the airport! What should have been a 45 minute ride to the airport took us 2 hours and 10 minutes. GOOD GRIEF. It thought Orlando traffic was bad. You ain't seen nothing!! We really thought we were going to miss our flight. The kids were AMAZING. They were troopers as we RAN through the airport. They helped with the luggage, and really stepped up to help when we needed them to !! I think they were as ready to come home as we were! We made our flight with literally seconds to spare. We didn't have time to get dinner before our flight, but the nice flight attendant gave us some extra peanuts! We were so tired when we got home, we collapsed at 1 am!!

We had such a great time! The kids really loved that crazy city. (upper and lower .... what? The city apparently has two levels. We kept getting turned around!) It is so beautiful and bustling-- watch when you cross the street, you may get honked at or killed!! I leave you with some miscellaneous pics of the city!!
