New Years day fun entailed us getting dressed in clothes to brave the 9 degree temperatures of ICE at the Gaylord Palms Hotel in the 75 degree Florida weather!! The lines were incredibly long to get in, but we braved those as well for a "did that, done that, don't have to do it again" experience! ICE is where you go into a world of 9 degree temps to see everything made of ice. It was actually very cool -pardon the terrible pun- to see how the craftsman made it all and all the intricate work that went into it. It was amazing! I think it was something like 4 million pounds of ice.
Getting our "parkas" on to go in!
They had an Ice bridge that you walk over. The fun part of the bridge was that there was a "live" webcam shooting it. We called the grandparents from up north and told them to log on. After the one minute delay they could see us here in FL. waving at them from the ice bridge! The Ice slides were also streaming live. You can see them here until the 4th of Jan. Click on the right side where it says "click here to view webcam". (I didn't get pics of the slide, but you can see it on the webcam!)
The kids waving from the ice bridge.

My favorite... the ice nativity!
When we left, my princess commented that it was worth the wait! Do you recommend going, you ask? Well, for their full price on the weekends.... NO!! If you can do it on the weekday with any discounts you can swing, then I would say ... YES! Do it once at least! I ran into someone in line today that goes every year. Nope, not for me. There is a reason I like my FL weather!! Enjoy the pictures!!
This was at the beginning. It was the "touch me" wall. They let everyone touch this to touch the ice now and NOT do it in the exhibit!

The Candy Land house in Ice. I don't know who that person with the kids is.
We didn't add to the family as far as I know!

Huge Ice Santa! (All ice!)

New Years greetings from Fl.!!

I've always thought that would be cool to go to... maybe if they are still doing it when the boys are a bit older we will take a trip over to see it

This is so cool! I'll bet it was beautiful, not to mention cold!!!

We love Florida. We usually have to save up for about four years to go, but we really do love it there.

The weather is amazing and I heart the palm trees. I can't wait to go again!

That is so way cool! There is something like that (but not to that extreme) where I grew up in MI. It was so much fun to bundle up and go see the ice sculptures every Jan drinking hot chocolate! Thanks for sharing your 'cool' experience! ;)

how fun! We have yet driven down to this. I hear all about it each year, but just haven't gone.

Maybe since I'm from the north, and moved here to get away from the cold.. I'm never in a rush to be cold again.. LOL

Cool! LOL. I had heard about that on the local radio station but didn't have the urge to go lol. There is a reason we live in Florida too. I'm glad to see it through your photo lens though. Thank you my friend for saving me the trouble of suffering the lines and cold temps.
    Hugs.

We did that in Texas a couple of years ago. I guess they must do it at all the Gaylord Hotels. It was fun, but VERY cold! You got some good pictures!
