Anyway, princess got the "loving spirit" award! She also got A/B honor roll!! Then out of her whole class she was one of 4 kiddos that got the "presidential fitness award"! You go girl!!! Here is princess and her best gal, who happened to get one of the other fitness awards!

From elementary school that is!! Still is hard for me!! He is my baby!!
Boy I will be a basket case at High School Graduation!
Anyway... the year isn't over yet, but the kids needed a little pick me up to get through the last 2 weeks of school!! So the parents threw them a Grad. party!!!
We also had a killer DJ.... he also was their 3rd grade teacher!! It was a nice surprise for the kids!!!
Keep up the good work guys!!! It won't be long now!!!

The last show was bitter sweet!! No more long rehearsals, but no more Joseph!! We could tell it had overtaken our lives when I heard the baby singing in the other room, "poor poor Joseph , what ya gonna do?" It touched ALL of us!!! I am so grateful for a great experience for her!!! After the final curtain call, we headed off for an ALL cast party!! Good times!! Enjoy the pics!!!!

WOW! Those words really hit me hard this weekend! My boy is now a Boy Scout! We had his Blue & Gold banquet w/ "arrow of light" and "crossover" ceremonies this weekend! We had a great banquet to honor the boys and the rest of the pack leaders. We then went down to the lake for the ceremonies! They are very symbolic. They actually shot "arrows of light" into the lake via bow and arrow! Then they walked across a bridge where the boy scout troop received them on the other side to welcome them into the troop! Very touching! Maintaining the family values that the scouts offer... the parents were with the boys every step of the ceremonies, right by their side! I am proud of both my boys! Daddy has been his scout leader since the beginning!This is my boy eating his face!! (from the above cake!)
Along with becoming a boy scout, he will inherit more responsibility and independence. This sort of terrifies Mom a bit!! Boy Scouts isn't like cub scouts where you go and the sit w/ the boys at their little den meeting. Nope, you drop them off and say have a good time-- unless you are one of the troop leaders which we have yet to determine! This, I believe, may be a defining year to see in what direction he will go. Will he stay with scouts, or choose to go another way? Either way, I am so proud of my boy! I loved sharing this weekend with him! (not to mention co-chairing the event! It was fun!!)

The sisters of our scouts! They received honorary arrow of light awards. These girls have pretty much attended EVERY event, memorized every scout promise, pledge, or creed and stood behind their brothers!! My princess LOVED her pink arrow and is so proud!!

... or have a breakdown! OR both!!! My baby girl is growing up! We have cracked out the toddler bed! She hasn't slept in it yet, but she plays "nite nite" in it. She loves to lay in it!
With my other two I had the toddler bed out beside the crib for about a month or two. They would take their naps in the toddler bed to get used to whole concept. I would also be awake and alert to stop any "getting out of bed" before it starts. I have to know that if I put her in there, she will stay for the duration of her nap before I put her in the toddler bed for the night!
*SNIFF SNIFF*

We have been getting annoyed with M
onkey's hair being in her face, but have waited to cut it until we could take her down to the Magic Kingdom for her first haircut. At the Harmony Barber Shop on Main Street USA, they make it a big to do!! The Harmony Barber Shop is located on a corner of Main Street in the Magic Kingdom. The shop opened in 1975 and is a tourist attraction that doubles as a working hair cuttery. It's an old-fashioned barber shop with a 100-year-old hat rack, a mechanical cash register of similar vintage and occasional appearances by Main Street's "Dapper Dans," a roving barbershop quartet.
That day has come!! She did great! She sat very still and just soaked up all the attention! They put tons of stickers on her shirt to keep her occupied! They saved ALL the hair they cut off for me, and gave her a nice certificate commemorating this fun day. The best part for Monkey, was her Mouse ears! They say "first haircut" on the back!! Too cute!

So much fun! I highly recommend visiting the Barber shop if you are at the MK!! Old and young alike will love it! While we were waiting, a 30 something got his hair cut and they spiked it up with blue gel!! So fun!! They even do "pixie dust" in the hair for the kiddos ! Guess you will have to come and see what that is all about! :o)

I promise and I deliver!!
Here are a couple videos of Monkey's swim lessons!! She is on day 8 of 10! She has made a dramatic turn around. She walks into the pool area, smiles, waves "hi" to Ms. Ginny, walks over and away she goes!! NO crying-- she does her thing and then talks to birds, to Ms. Ginny, to me, to Mr. Harrison! What a HAM!! She is doing really well with her rolling over, but still needs to work on floating! She doesn't want to get that head up, therefor she sinks!

Swimming lessons that is!!! Yup, Monkey started swimming lessons this morning! Well, it is more like infant swim survival! A wonderful woman from my church has been doing it for over 30 years infants - adults. Now she does it out of her home! She is SO patient, SO gentle, and just LOVES these kids to death!! She whispers in their ears, sings to them, kisses their foreheads, and then after a bit scoops them up and hugs/loves on them!! The Lord has given her such a sweet gift to help us protect our gifts from Him!
I didn't do infant swim with my older two when they were little, but these days the pools are everywhere, the lakes are unguarded, and frankly if I am honest... life is so crazy.... I fear that I may lose focus! I want Monkey to be prepared if God forbid something would happen! Since we have the older two we are always at the pool or at a friends house with a pool! This is by no means a substitute for parental supervision, just another precaution!!
Monkey was not happy when she got in the pool with Ms Ginny! Like Ms. Ginny says... at 15 mo. old... she isn't afraid of the water, she is just mad she can't be with mamma! That is why this is a great time to get them acclimated to the water! Monkey kept reaching for me each time she would come out of the water, but after a couple of times she finally relied on Ms. Ginny and hugged her for security! She cried the whole 10 minutes, but actually it didn't phase me. I felt like I should be on the edge of my seat or sitting with tears in my eyes. My baby needed me, but... if I keep in perspective.... 10 minutes of screaming is better than a lifetime of NOT hearing that precious scream ever again! Ms. Ginny says she will be an "easy one"!! I hope without the screaming!! At the end of the lessons, I will video and post it!! If you are local and need lessons-- I highly recommend Ms. Ginny!! Swimming for Life School

Well, the two front teeth are out. They came out within a couple of days of each other. This is exciting for her, because she has waited. However, this brings on a whole new level to our thumb sucking fight!! (you read about our drama from the beginning here.) Now, the adult teeth can grow incorrectly if she doesn't stop. Now is the turning point--changes need to happen! The top one that corresponds with the thumb she sucks, has already started to grow in. This has been a battle I chose not to fight until now. The future state of her mouth is resting in my hands. Join the fight.... say some prayers... hear my battle cry.......

Where did the year go? I know it is only her 10 month old birthday today, but to me that is huge!! I am taking every moment and holding it dearly!! I have a 10 year old and 7 year old and it goes SO FAST. I am soaking in every milestone!! I get teary eyed knowing she is growing so fast. Times like when I walk into her room to get her up from a nap and see this:

I know it has been a while since I have updated you on our progress using the Thumbuster for our thumb sucking drama! I was reminded last Sunday that I hadn't
updated anyone so here goes!!
The thumbuster has been retired. In the beginning, we were very excited about it. It really worked wonders. She willfully wore it everywhere. It was the reminder that she needed.

attaches by velcro (easy to remove)
velcro became worn and wouldn't attach
if it got wet, she wouldn't wear it
I would not suggest this item for anyone who has a child that can take it off by themselves and can't be bribed to keep it on. The child HAS to want to use it. We may try and replace the velcro so she can wear it again. She wore it everywhere all the time which accounts for the wear and tear on it! If a child only wore it at night, the wear would be minimal!
(we tried to pin it together, but the pin got annoying!)
When she wore it, it was a miracle. When it is off, her thumb is right back where it was.
It was a very small investment for us , and was worth the try! I can't say it has failed, just set us back a bit due to the state it is currently in.
For now, it is back to the bandaids! She has been doing a great job and is trying really hard. Habits are hard to break no matter what they are.
We will continue to help her the best we can.
